Webinar: Reaching The Criteria To Stop Treatment for Onchocerciasis

WEBINAR: Reaching the Criteria to Stop Treatment for Onchocerciasis

One of the most challenging steps for onchocerciasis endemic countries is breaking the cycle of transmission to the point where mass drug administration can be stopped.  USAID’s Act to End NTDs | East program has learned valuable lessons through supporting countries to reach this critical milestone in their journey to achieve the elimination of onchocerciasis.

During this webinar, panelists shared lessons learned from Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Uganda, including key takeaways from their experiences with focal context monitoring, unique implementation of onchocerciasis elimination strategies, and making evidence-based decisions that are facilitated by onchocerciasis expert committees.

A new technical brief — Reaching the Criteria to Stop Onchocerciasis Mass Drug Administration: Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Uganda Pave the Way — was also launched on the NTD Toolbox.
